The Top 5 Movies You Must Watch on Netflix This January

As the new year ramps up, so do the new releases on Netflix!

To help you decide on your viewing priorities (there’s just so much to good stuff!), here’s the top 5 movies we think you should watch on Netflix this January.

Polar (21 January)

The world’s top assassin (The Black Kaiser – Mads Mikkelsen), is settling into retirement when his former employer marks him as a liability to the firm. Against his will, he finds himself back in the game going head to head with an army of younger assassins.

Based on the Dark Horse graphic novel by Victor Santos, Polar: Came From the Cold, the trailer for Polar looks epic (albeit echoing a John Wick-esque vibe). We can’t wait to catch Mads Mikkelson as The Black Kaiser.

Bird Box (Out Now)

In the wake of an unknown global terror, a mother must find the strength to flee with her children down a treacherous river in search of safety. Due to unseen deadly forces, the perilous journey must be made blindly.

We know Bird Box was released in December 2018, but in case you haven’t seen it already, help us address the controversy surrounding the movie. Was it a hit, split or was it shit?

GODZILLA The Planet Eater (9 January)

After decades in space, humanity’s last survivors return to Earth to find that millennia have passed , and worse yet, the entire ecosystem of the planet has evolved to serve its apex predator: Godzilla. After two failed attempts to defeat Godzilla, the survivors’ numbers are dwindling, and in-fighting has begun between humanity and its alien allies. But little do they know that their final challenge is approaching: a monster that not even Godzilla can defeat is coming to eat the world whole.

If you love your anime, check out the final offering in this animated film trilogy, following on from Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters and Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle. You can catch them all on Netflix.
